# Floating License Issue

We started using Python with Robots today. We have 10 floating licenses, and my 6th period is not able to access the curriculum. They are getting a message that says the seats are full. Typically, my other classes have just logged out and the next class could use the license. I tried creating a 6th period class with a different code but it says that we do not have enough seats. Do you have any suggestions?

That’s a common one with floating licenses — logging out usually frees a seat, but earlier-period students can still count as active for a while.
A few things that often help:
- **Seats are one shared pool.** Creating a new 6th-period class or join code doesn’t add seats. Your 10 floating licenses are shared across all classes, and students consume a seat while they’re active.
- **Check current usage** at [license.firialabs.com](https://license.firialabs.com/) to see how many seats are currently taken.
- Floating licenses **auto-prune inactive users** , and the seat count refreshes periodically. If earlier classes closed the tab without fully logging out of CodeSpace, those seats can still show as full until they time out.
- Have 6th period wait a few minutes after the previous class has logged out, then try again. If anyone is still signed in on a shared computer, have them fully log out.

All 10 seats are currently being held by students from your earlier periods, and all ten still have CodeSpace open on their Chromebooks right now.
A seat only frees up when a student clicks “Sign Out” or their Chromebook stops running CodeSpace. Closing the lid or closing the tab both work, it takes about 60 seconds for the seat to be freed. If a student walks away from an open laptop or just switches to another tab, the seat stays taken.
